Additionally, there are various fees associated with each license type, and businesses must comply with all state regulations, including labeling and packaging requirements.

Massachusetts also allows for the use of medical marijuana, which has been legal since 2012. Medical marijuana patients can purchase up to a 60-day supply of marijuana from licensed dispensaries.

It is important to note that while Massachusetts has legalized marijuana for recreational use, it is still illegal at the federal level. Therefore, businesses operating in the marijuana industry are subject to potential federal prosecution, although the likelihood of this has decreased in recent years.
